Façade height between 4 and 8 metres

Provide an exterior fixed cat ladder or interior staircase (BBR 8:2421)

Gangway to ridge railing and service point / chimney

Roof gangway can be applied for roof inclination up to 12 degrees.

Roof Access treads can be applied for roof inclination between 8 and 45 degrees.

Roof access ladder can be applied for roof inclination exceeding 25 degrees. (BBR 8:2422 and 2426).

Weland cat ladders are approved in accordance with SS 83 13 40 (functional standard). Fixed cat ladders are required for façade heights exceeding 4 m. The bottom end of cat ladders should be arranged on suitable height above ground depending on the accessibility required, but maximum 1.5 metres above ground.

Weland cat ladders are suitable for access to towers, silos, bridge piers, chimneys etc. In case of high ladders rest landings should be provided. If hoop guards are mounted, these should end maximum 2.5 metres above ground.We recommend that cat ladders exceeding 6 metres height should be provided with hoop guard and rest landings.

If escape ladders are combined with escape landings, they must be provided with hoop guard to prevent stepping out into open space.
